The people of Narrabeen live a quiet life until one day a storm strikes their village and their peaceful existence is threatened. Years before, their ancestors had established the village after being shipwrecked off the nearby coast. On board the ship was a fortune in gold, which had been stolen and buried by one of the sailors after the ship foundered, and is now guarded by a Mermaid who was once human.  Led by Abby, a young girl from the village, the villagers set out to find the buried gold to use to rebuild their town and save themselves from ruin. 

Unfortunately, a band of pirates led by the intrepid Captain Book (a wicked pirate who loves to read), also want to find the treasure for themselves... Betrayed by one of the villagers; it seems the plan to find the gold is doomed… until Abby has an idea….
